Since the 1980s, it will now be easier and quicker to reach the British Virgin Islands (BVI), thanks to American Airlines flights to Beef Island/Tortola.
The Honourable Kye M. Rymer, MHA. The Deputy Premier Minister of Communication & Works Minister has announced that the British Virgin Islands (BVI) will be receiving direct flights from Miami in the USA by mid-year 2023.
From June 1, American Airlines will start operating nonstop roundtrip flights, daily from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS), previously Beef Island Airport.
These American Airlines flights to the British Virgin Islands will set a development benchmark as a territory breakthrough.
To quote Clive McCoy, director of tourism, British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission, “As the first nonstop flight from the U.S. in decades, this is a monumental opportunity to bring more North American travelers to the crystal-clear waters of our beloved island-destination.”
New Nonstop Flight Service
In the pursuit to expand air travel between the U.S. and the BVI, American Airlines will run through August 14 and restart in November. With this new nonstop flight service, BVI is expected to get almost 2128 passengers every month.
Daily flights from Miami to Beef Island have the scheduled departure time of 10:07 a.m. and arrival is scheduled at 1:06 p.m.
Return flights will take off at 1:47 p.m. and reach back to Miami at 4:25 p.m.

However, AA is cutting its flights to Samana Dominican Republic as a part of exiting 3 short-haul international markets. But with the new roundtrip flights, AA will maintain its connection with BVI.
